The beauty of clay is that it can be reformed again and again until it is finally fired.
In this workshop you will learn to save and reclaim your own clay trimmings, leather hard, and bone dry pieces, and process them for re-use. Here are a few reasons why you should reclaim your clay:
We will also make small damp boxes for storing works-in-progress and controlling moisture levels of clay pieces. The workshop fee includes the cost of supplies, and each participant will keep a small reclaim bucket and the damp box they make in class.
This class is for students and members who are ready to reclaim their own clay and would like to use clay bodies other than the three clays KCS reclaims in the studio.
Please bring a mask to wear while sifting plaster.

Bring a friend or family member to the studio for a fun clay experience and show them what you've been up to at KCS. Our Friends and Family Evening lets you bring a guest to experience wheel-throwing or hand-building for a 2-hour session. We will provide the clay and light refreshments, and will fire and glaze the finished pieces; you will be responsible for showing your guest the ropes and taking them through the steps of creating. and clean-up.
*Please note: all work must be finished within the 2-hour reserved time frame. You are responsible for your guest and their lesson. You and your guest must clean up your work area and tools before the end of the 2-hour session. The pieces you make will be fired and ready for pick-up in approximately 2 weeks.
When you register, please be sure to select quantity 2 to reserve your spaces, and enter your name and the name of your guest so we know who to expect!
