FRIENDS AND FAMILY EVENING
Friday, November 8
Bring friends or family members to the studio for a fun clay experience and show them what you've been up to at KCS. This Friends and Family Evening lets you bring 1-2 guests to the studio a 2-hour session of either wheel-throwing or hand-building.
We will provide the clay and light refreshments, and will fire and glaze the finished pieces; you will be responsible for showing your guests the ropes and taking them through the steps of creating. and clean-up.
*Please note: all work must be finished within the 2-hour reserved time frame. We will be available to answer questions but you are responsible for your guests and their lesson. You and your guests must clean up your work area and tools at the end of the 2-hour session. The pieces you make will be fired and ready for pick-up in approximately 2-3 weeks.

MAY 12, 2024: MOTHER'S DAY POTTERY AFTERNOON, 1:30-4:30PM
This Mother's Day, spend a relaxing afternoon with your mom (or dad,/favorite aunt/, mother-figure of your choice) playing with clay at KCS. You and your guest(s) can try out the pottery wheel, work on hand-built pieces, or perhaps try both! We'll also have snacks and beverages for you and your guest(s) to enjoy.
We'll be on hand to help out with suggested projects and give quick demos.
Clay will be provided and we will fire and glaze the finished pieces. You will be responsible for familiarizing your guests with studio procedures, helping them create, and guiding them through the steps clean-up.

FEB 10, 2024: HOW TO TEACH BEGINNING THROWING with PAT COLYAR
a hands-on seminar aimed at throwers who would like to teach a beginning throwing class, or for instructors who are already teaching one and would like to feel more confident about their approach. Pat will bring her experience from 35 years of teaching throwing at various locations in the Seattle/Eastside area.
Starting with which clays to use, we'll talk about basic wedging and centering techniques, which tools are helpful, and sequence and timing of demonstrations. We'll also talk about different learning styles. There will be handouts, including a suggested 10-week class plan for Beginning Throwing.

AUG 26, 2023: Underglaze Monoprint Workshop
Create and transfer your own unique imagery from paper to clay in this 3-hour workshop. Chanda will share examples and color tests, demonstrate how to create your own unique patterns and drawings, and guide students in creating their own monoprint to transfer onto a tile. Underglazes, slip and pre-made leather hard tiles will be provided. If you are a studio member or enrolled in a class here at Kokanee Clay, you are welcome to apply the technique to any suitable leather hard work created prior to the workshop. Tiles will be fired and ready for pick-up at a later date.

June 4, 2023: Reclaim and Damp Box Workshop
Learn how to reclaim your own clay and process it to be reused. We will also make damp boxes with plaster slabs. Damp boxes are used for storing works in progress and controlling the humidity level and drying rate.
